Breaking waves, building dreams: the nasima campaign
The global release of NASIMA is dedicated to supporting community screenings around the world and to help Nasima in founding the first-ever surf club for girls in Bangladesh. A FEARLESS YOUNG GIRL TURNED ATHLETE, LEADER, SURF COACH AND MOTHER HAS A DREAM TO START THE FIRST GIRLS SURF CLUB IN BANGLADESH AND SUPPORT YOUNG GIRLS THROUGH LIFESAVING TRAINING– YOUR SUPPORT MAKES THIS DREAM REAL! This campaign invites viewers not only to watch her story but to participate in changing the lives of girls around the world who, like Nasima, dare to dream. Accompanying the film is a genre-blending, Hamilton-style mixtape by Brooklyn Shanti. His full album, highlighting new female Bengali talent and inspired by the film, will drop in tandem with the film’s release. Join us. Watch the film. Support the dream!
THE NASIMA FILM IS THE NASIMA CAMPAIGN
These funds will fuel this urgent effort to raise awareness and secure support for Nasima's surf club and the lifesaving training program. Each donation accelerates this mission, empowering girls and young women in Bangladesh and beyond by presenting surfing as a powerful symbol of freedom, resilience, and opportunity.
Funds raised will support Royal Navy Lifeboat Institution's efforts to train young people in Cox’s Bazar, life Bangladesh, in saving. We have witnessed their work in that community for nearly 10 years and can attest to the value it adds to the community. Nasima was one of the first lifeguards EVER trained in Bangladesh, and the first woman. Her dream is to enable and support young girls through this life saving training.
Our intention is to launch this film into the world in support of the Cox’s Bazar community, bringing Nasima’s story full circle.
We are also in actively vetting a few top tier global non-profit organizations with ‘boots on the ground’ and who hold the mandate to support women and girls empowerment, education and equity. Through this partnership Nasima will not only have the financial support to start her surf club, but the mentorship and organizational support that it will take to start a business.
